Chu Hiu Ching is from China and is studying TAFY at our Auckland campus.

"My name is Chu Hiu Ching, but people call me Queenie. I am from Hong Kong which is a very beautiful city. I have been in New Zealand for 9 months now and it is totally different from Hong Kong. The living style here is much more easy-going and casual.

By contrast, in Hong Kong everything has to be fast paced and most people are intense. I have had one trip outside Auckland so far this year. I went to the South Island of New Zealand. I travelled there by coach to Queenstown. Everywhere was like a postcard, it was so beautiful.

New Zealanders are very nice. They are generally friendly and will talk to you when you are waiting for the bus, that sort of thing. Something else fun that I have done was visiting the glacier at Franz Joseph. That was the most interesting thing I have done so far. I have learned how to enjoy my life more since I have been here. Travelling to New Zealand has opened  me up more as a person.

Taylors College teachers are very nice. They are totally different from the educational style in Hong Kong, particularly in terms of atmosphere. The course of study I have had here has been very satisfying. The subjects I am taking are English, Maths A & B , Physics and Chemistry. Chemistry is my favourite course that i am taking. When I go to university I hope to study architecture. My preferred university is Melbourne because it is high ranking."
